Frequently Asked Questions

Are you a full time photographer?

We are a full time, professional photography business based in County Durham.

How much experience do you have?
Lots!

We would like to meet with you to discuss our wedding and also see some example Wedding albums and images from previous Weddings. Is this possible?
Yes it is! If you live withing a 30 mile radius of the DL5 postcode we will happily come out to see you at your home for a no obligation chat. If you live out of that radius then we can arrange to meet at a location convenient to us both.

I'm getting married out of your area - do you travel?
Yes we do! Contact us for more information.

If we decided to book, do we need to pay a deposit?
We do ask for a non refundable & non-transferable deposit of £150 to secure your Wedding day, and the remaining balance is payable 6 weeks before your Wedding.

What style of Wedding photography do you take? Do you provide traditional photos or reportage?
Some photographers base their business upon a particular style (normally reportage) and refuse to capture any traditional images whatsoever. We believe that we should photograph your Wedding how YOU would like it photographed. It's your wedding after all!

What happens if you are ill on the day of our Wedding?
There has never situation where our photographer has been unable to attend due to illness. However, if this did happen we have close contacts in the photography business who would be able to step in and photograph your Wedding to the standard we would be happy with.

What time will you arrive to photograph our Wedding?
It depends upon the Wedding package you have booked. If you have booked our Package 1 then we would arrive at your Wedding venue about 15 minutes before the Ceremony begins. With this package, we would very occassionally agree to take photos before this time, but this is entirely depending upon the Wedding, it's location, weather and time of ceremony.
If you have booked any of our other packages then we aim to be at the place the bride is getting married between 60-90 minutes before the ceremony. This can change depending upon traffic however.

How do you know which group photographs to take?
Each Wedding is similiar in it's structure so with regards to group photos, we have a standard list, i.e large group photos, family photos, couple with parent photos etc. This list is available on request. When we speak with our couples we always ask them to prepare an additional list of photos they would like, which would feature specific photos unique to the couple. It is important to remember that the photos taken will vary depending upon the weather and also the location - more of that below. It is also very important to note that the photos which are taken also depends upon the willingness of the guests to participate. We are unable to force guests or children to pose for photograph.

What happens if the weather is poor?
In Britain, the weather is notoriously fickle - one week the weather could be fantastic, the next it could be torrential rain. The time of your Wedding can also have an effect on your photos too. Regardless of the weather and time, we always aim to get the best possible photos on the day.

My Wedding venue isn't the most picturesque location. What can you do?
With Wedding photography the location and setting helps enormously when it comes to your Wedding photographs. Most Wedding and reception venues have nice areas for photographs which (weather permitting) are perfectly suited. However, we understand that not all venues have such areas. In such situations we will give the couple the choice of going to a local park etc for their couple photographs. It is entirely up to the couple if they would like to do this.

Can other people take photos during the Wedding?
Of course they can! Bear in mind however that other people taking photos can distract those who are having official images taken, and this can effect the photos received.

What happens if your camera fails?
With any piece of equipment, cameras can fail for a multitude of reasons. Camera failure is impossible to predict. In the event it does happen we always have backup cameras available and if it causes a slight delay in your Wedding day, then our photographer will always offer to stay late to get the photographs which are missing. It is entirely up to the couple if they accept this or not. If some photos are missing which cannot be repeated then depending upon the circumstances & package booked compensation will be offered, normally in the form of an album or DVD upgrade.

How long do you stay until?
It depends upon the Wedding package you have booked. If you have booked our Wedding package 1 or 2 then we would leave after the photos of the couple at the Wedding venue. With package 3 we leave after the speeches and with packages 4 and 5 we leave after the first dance or 8.30pm, whichever is soonest.

Do you expect a meal?
We understand that some photographers insist on this however we don't agree with it. We understand that Weddings are expensive enough anyway without the couple having to go to the extra expense of having to keep someone they have already paid good money for fed & watered!

What happens after the Wedding?
Once we get back to our office we back up your photographs and do an initial filter. We always remove images which are unusable, i.e too dark, blurred, eyes closed etc. These images are unable to be viewed. The remaining images are have basic edits applied and are then uploaded onto a private part of our website. We then email you the link and the password to view the photos.

How soon will we see our photos?
Between 1-2 weeks after your Wedding.

How many photos will there be?
Each Wedding is different so it is difficult to say. Some photographers supply thousands of photos - however we don't because the majority of photos are duplicate shots etc. Depending upon the package chosen it could be anywhere between 100-500 photos.

I've been through the photos, and there are some missing?
As mentioned above, there could be a few different reasons why some photos are not there. While we have a list of standard photos in our head, capturing those photos depends upon not only the weather but also the willingness of guests to participate as well as certain timings. If there are any photos which are non-standard (eg. photos of the couple with particular relatives or friends) then it is the responsibility of the couple to supply a list prior to the Wedding.

What kind of wedding albums do you supply?
Apart from Package 1, which is a digital only package, we supply a 30cm x 30cm black Wedding book with all of our packages. Should you wish for something different, we also have a couple of upgrades too which vary in price depending upon size and style etc. Please see our "ALBUM PAGE" for more information.

I've picked the photos I would like in my book. What happens next?
After you have chosen your photos, we then edit the photos and create a Wedding book from them. From choosing your images to receiving your book normally takes between 6-8 weeks. However, depending upon the time of year it could take slightly longer than that. Once the final book is delivered to ourselves we check it and post it out to you.

How long do you keep copies of our wedding photos?
We keep your Wedding photos forever.

Can friends and family order photos?
Yes they can. Once you have chosen the images for your book we can, with your permission, open up the online gallery so that all of your friends & family can order prints.
